The development and sale of the upset shape welding (USW) equipment made by Framatome’s fuel manufacturing site Lingen in Germany (operator: Advanced Nuclear Fuels GmbH) follows the motto “technology from user for user”. USW is a key equipment of the fuel rod manufacturing line: It ensures the tightness of rods which will be loaded into a reactor. Therefore, the equipment is essential for safe reactor operation; and customers expect a quality equipment of great reliability. The technology is used worldwide, in Asia, South and North America and Europe.
